Leadership

 

Elena Fort - President
Elena has been involved in real estate sales and investing as a real estate and investment professional over the past five years. As a real estate sales representative, she helps people to purchase and sell their properties focusing on making the right investment decision. Elena also has an extensive experience in managing large IT and business projects on behalf of major corporations in banking, insurance, government, telecommunication and retail industries. She has been involved with Our Place since 2010.

Evan Dean- Vice President
Evan is involved in a number of other non-profit community programs. He is the Vice-President for Our Place Community of Hope and the co-chair for Trinity Square Cafe, which gives meaningful work and life skills development assistance to adults who are living with mental illness by providing welcoming space where participants assist in the running of lunchtime cafe. In addition to his work with Our Place and Trinity Square Cafe, Evan has been a Board Member for Pride Toronto since 2010. Prior to joining the Board, Evan was a volunteer coordinator for Pride Toronto. For the 2009 Pride Festival Evan oversaw the Free Zone, a drug and alcohol free space providing those in recovery a safe space to enjoy the festival. For the 2010 festival, Evan coordinated Dis/Ability Resources which works to ensure that no person is excluded from participation in Pride due to unnecessary barriers.


Kumar Annamalai - Treasurer
Kumar holds a B. Comm. degree from the University of Windsor. Kumar is currently the Vice President in the fund services group for a global investment banking firm, where he has worked since early 2006. Kumar has been a board member of Our Place since the summer of 2010.


Maryann Wijesinghe - Secretary
Maryann has an undergraduate degree from the University of Toronto in psychology and criminology. She is currently working towards certification as a Psychosocial Rehabilitation practitioner and a Social Work degree. She is passionate about mental health and has been in the field in various capacities for over five years. Maryann has been on the Our Place Board of Directors for two years.

Board Opportunities

At this point in time, we are looking to recruit new Board members!
This is a great opportunity to have a positive impact on the community, while applying the business/leadership skills from your professional experience. The Board would benefit from individuals with strong backgrounds in the following areas:

· Standard Operational IT and Website maintenance/troubleshooting
· Social Work and/or Mental Health
· Law

The time commitment required of a board member is typically one Board meeting per month in addition to attending ad-hoc sub-committee meetings and social events as required.
